These are exciting times at Sam Houston State University, the third-oldest public university in Texas. With enrollment at record levels, new degree programs launching, and our recent entrance into Conference USA, the future has never looked brighter.
Founded in 1949 as the Ravens Social Club, the Gamma Tau Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order has been a proud part of that legacy for over 70 years. In 2019, we opened the Kappa Alpha Mansion—the closest fraternity house to campus—located directly behind Lone Star Hall.
We invite you to stop by, get to know our chapter, and see if you share the values that define Kappa Alpha. Whether you’re looking to build character, leadership, or lifelong friendships, we’re here to help you become the best version of yourself.

Military Commissions
Attendees at Military Institutions are not allowed to join Fraternal organizations, but to give those brightest of us the ability to join KA, we have established the Military Commissions. These enable those leaders to join KA retroactively after graduation and support these men in their future lives. Currently Commissions exists at the following schools. Virginia Military Institute, The Citadel, United States Military Academy, United States Naval Academy, United States Air Force Academy, and Furman University. This also includes the Omega Commission for Legacies. https://www.kappaalphaorder.org/ka/commissions/
